Place to go: Jamaica

This is my first post about one of my favorite topic: traveling. I spent my Christmas holiday in Jamaica with my Italian friends. Where can I find a better start than Jamaica? Before leaving Italy I saied to my friends “hey see you in Jamaica”, it was incredible but we really met there on 20 of December. Jamaica is certainly a place to go. We spent 8 days there and we had a great time. We visited three different locations: Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril.

First stop was Montego Bay. There are a lot of things to do here, like visiting the countryside and seeing how local people live, going to the Seawinds Beach Club for the sunday brunch with all you can drink champagne, drinking  huge amount of rum punch at the Raggea Bar, meeting Ted the Rasta guy, who lives there, asking for braids to her sister, and buying some souvenirs in both of them shops. Stay at the Bethel Court Guest House, a shared apartment for people who like meeting the local people. Eat a lot of seafood at the HouseBoat Grill, try the meat, crab and vegatble patties at the Juici Patties, and go at the Margaritaville and watch the sunset, eat the jerk chicken on the street and try their soups too.

The second stop: Ocho Rios.

We spent here three days. We stayed at the Rooms on the Beach Hotel. Here we did a lot of amazing activities. We did rafting on the White River, we climbed the Dunns River Falls, we rode horser throw the Ocho Rios’ countryside, and after we went with the horses on the beach and on the carrebean sea. We spent all our Christmas day at the Bamboo Blu Beach. That day was amazing! We had the Christmas lunch on the beach, we ete lobsters, and conch soup (typical jamaican dish) and drank coconut water and rum, so delicous! Nice beach and nice atmosphere. One of the best carribbean cusine is at the  Scotchie’s. Here people can enjoy the jerk pork, jerk chicken, curry goat festival, breadfruit, ackee, yam, fried plantain, fried dumplin and everything with rice and peas and coconut water. Another good place to eat is the Jerk Centre (for Caribbean dishes). or if you are vegetarian or you want to try the real Rasta culture, go to eat at the Rastarant. It is a really nice place with good food too. Finally, don’t forget to try the cocktails of the bar of the hotel!

Last but non the least: Negril.

Here we stayed at The Spa Retreat, a tropical and great location, with a beautiful setting overlooking the Caribbean sea. I suggest you guys this hotel because it’s an experience ti try. The hotel has reserved snorkeling area, there is a sea salt swimming pool, you can get a massage with the view of the Carribean sea, the varied cocktails of the bar (I drank the best ever mojito) were amazing and service was very good. The 7mile beach of Negril is a tropical paradise. This long walking beach, with white and soft sand, warm and super clear water, food and arranged souvenirs shops, is awesome. After the long walk, go to the Rick’s Cafe’ to watch the sunset, which is considered the best Negril’ sunset. And if you are brave, you can cliff dive from the the mountain. Don’t forget to have breakfast (and try the typical Jamaican breakfast) at the Canoe Beach Bar and Grill, a small restaurant on the place a few steps from the Spa Retreat.

I have a blast in Jamaica and I want to go back as soon as possible. People are very nice, happy and friendly, the locations are paradises and the food is pretty good too. I ate some fruits that I have never eaten before and I have never known. I hope to go back and visit the south part. Definitively, Jamaica is a place to go!!
